	The genesis of the Abaxis technology took place at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where, under contract to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), scientists sought to develop and manufacture a small biochemical analyzer for use in space laboratories. Abaxis was founded in April, 1989 under exclusive license with Oak Ridge to advance this technology and develop the first testing system capable of performing multiple blood tests from a single whole blood specimen without requiring a skilled lab technician. In 1992, Abaxis completed the concept design for the then-named "EPOC 2000" system. This was a key milestone affording Abaxis the opportunity to make its initial public offering. The VetScan system was introduced in the US veterinary market in July 1994. The Company initially launched the system with the Diagnostic Profile, a nine-test reagent product. Since then, the Company has added new test methods and new reagent rotor products targeted to fulfill different veterinary diagnostic needs.
	PEPTEK is a Russian pharmaceutical company having a goal to develop modern industrial production of medicines based on peptide technologies. Peptek produces and sells immunomodulator Licopid. It has production facilities in the Shemyakin-Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry Russian Academy of Sciences. Licopid is produced at a modern pilot plant having GMP certificate. Peptek is licensed for the production, storage and distribution of Licopid. It owns the trade mark Licopid and patents for the use of muramyl peptides in therapy.
